Message from TY's President:
Susan Smoller, President
Shalom
I hereby offer you a warm, virtual welcome to Temple Torat Yisrael!
We are comprised of many individual families, couples and singles, but it is our spirit and our worship together that transform us into the “Torat Yisrael family” — that intangible value that is a source of strength for each of us. We function as partners, and it is the participation of our members that is the lifeblood of our beloved Torat Yisrael. We all work hard together as one family, continuing to support Temple Torat Yisrael far into the future. There are many ways to become involved and I invite you to do so.
We are building a new physical and spiritual home on Middle Road in East Greenwich RI. However, our religious school is already located in East Greenwich and teaching our children Jewish values, culture and history. You can find more information about our Frederic G. and Lawrence G. Cohen Religious School by clicking here.
As President of Torat Yisrael, I am particularly proud of our outstanding commitment to an educational program for our children. However, Jewish education does not end there. We offer adult education, social and cultural programs to meet the needs of our congregation and community. We have events that range from musical concerts to Shabbat dinners and, as a Conservative congregation committed to the principle of inclusivity, we welcome all who wish to attend.
We are the only Conservative congregation in Rhode Island outside of Providence that is led by a full-time rabbi who is a member of the Conservative Movement's Rabbinical Assembly. Rabbi Amy Levin has enriched our communal and spiritual life since her arrival in the summer of 2004 and leads our gifted professional staff including our education director, Donna Tarutz, our cantor, Hazzan Devin M. Goldenberg and our social worker, Andrea Epstein. Our leadership and professional staff is dedicated to the goal of providing a warm, nurturing environment packed with many religious, educational, spiritual and cultural opportunities. Temple Torat Yisrael is guided by a dedicated Board of Trustees that is deeply and passionately involved in all aspects of our congregational life.
Always feel free to contact any of our clergy, professional staff or volunteers wih any questions. I invite you to visit us and to contact me personally through the Torat Yisrael office at 401-785-1800 or by e-mail with any comments or questions.
Shalom,
