Hello Kindergarten and 1st grade families, welcome to our class blog! This page is here to keep you all posted on what is happening in class, and check out all of the fun we are having while learning. Every class will consist of an opening activity, story time, hebrew time, and a learning component based off the main topic of the day, such as holidays, Israel, the Torah, Etc. We'll jump right into the swing of things in no time!
I hope everyone heard good reviews from your child(ren) after this past weeks Sunday school - I personally thought it went great! We started off last weeks class by playing name games and other "getting to know you" activities in order for the students to bond with each other and for me to learn about them as well! The topics of the day in last Sundays class were Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. Regarding the holidays, we discussed how we ask for forgiveness for any mistakes we might have made and hope for a sweet new year. We proceeded to talk about what qualities make a "good person" and the students thought of many kind gestures and actions that would portray one. I also read Sammy Spiders First Rosh Hashana which they all seemed to enjoy! The first day of school is always nerve wrecking - for the students, the parents, and the teacher!
Once we begin a routine and the children become more comfortable in the classroom, things will start running smoothly and hopefully the kids will be excited to come to class! Every individual child behaved superbly - I was quite impressed. I have high expectations for this upcoming school year and I'm really looking forward to this journey we will all be taking together!
