Chag Ha Sukkot families! Just as we are commanded to do on sukkot, we had a day filled with being sameach (happy). We fulfilled all three commandments today by eating snack in the sukkah, rejoicing in our learning, and shaking the lulav and etrog. We learned how the lulav and etrog are shaken in every direction because God is everywhere. Also, we learned about a couple of important rules for building a kosher sukkah. First, you need to have at least 2 and a half walls. Also, you need to be able to see the stars, so we typically use schach or branches and leaves so that you can see through. Students made their own model sukkot to demonstrate what they learned.
Also, we started learning our hebrew letters this week. So far, we have learned the aleph, bet, and shin. We also learned the two vowels that make the "ah" sound. Please have your kids watch the review video below. Then have them complete lesson 1 on the "tiyulim" app.
We also started practicing the aleph-bet song. Have your kids listen to it as much as possible and they will know their letters in no time at all. See below for a video of the aleph-bet song.
