Next week, teachers will be attending a professional development seminar. However, Rabbi Levin has planned a fantastic program that focuses on tikkun olam for the duration of the Sunday. I hope you take advantage of this time for your family. This is a great opportunity for your kids to give back to the community.
What a fantastic week we had at the Cohen School. Last week we learned about the story of Noah's Ark and how Noah was chosen because he was the kindest man of his time. We talked a lot about what it means to be kind and how we can show our kindness to others. Today, we continued talking about this theme of kindness as we learned about the meaning of the word "mitzvah". Students are working on putting together a mitzvah guide that we will share with the whole congregation. One group chose to do a skit as part of their contribution. Please watch the "mitzvah man" skit below:
We continued learning the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Today we learned the letter "mem" like in the word "Imah" or mother. We learned that some letters look different when they are at the end of the word. IN order to review what we did this week, please help your kids do lesson 5 in the tiyulim app. If you don't yet have the app or if it is still not working, please have your kids watch this video and practice along with me.
I'm Sari Guttin, the Grade 2/3 Teacher and the Educational Director. I am thrilled to be here in this wonderful community to share my love of learning and Jewish values with my students!
