Food Support Programs
Our TY community is proud to support two food support programs. The built-in benches in our lobby lift up to reveal donation bins. Please bring non-perishable foods with you when you come to Torat Yisrael (except on Shabbat). Our Social Action Committee volunteers will deliver your donated food to:
1. The Elmwood Food Closet.
Housed at the Church of the Transfiguration on Broad Street in Cranston. We need all kinds of non-perishable foods to stock their shelves: canned meats, fish, vegetables, fruits; boxed soup stocks and long-life milk; jars of pasta sauce and peanut butter; boxes of cereal, pasta. Toiletries (toothbrushes and toothpaste, shampoos and conditioners, deodorants, diapers and baby food) are all appreciated as well.
2. The Louis and Goldie Chester Full Plate Kosher Food Pantry.
Housed at the Jewish Seniors Agency facility on Niantic Avenue in Cranston. All donations to this facility must have kosher certification (hechsher) on the package. Canned tuna, boxed soups and hot and cold cereal are all appreciated.
