"There is no way to peace. Peace is the way!" - Abraham Muste
From Saturday, July 11th to Monday, the 13th, Torat Yisrael hosted a unique group of Israeli teens - Jewish and Muslim - who are participants in the Ukuleles For Peace co-existence project that builds relationships between Arabs and Jews in Israel. The group of 12 teens and their three adult directors were warmly welcomed into our community. Through the generosity of six of our families, the kids were given home hospitality for two nights. On Sunday, community volunteers stepped up to drive the group to Providence and accompanied them on a walking tour of Brown University, Benefit St., Prospect Park and the shops and restaurants of Thayer Street. In the afternoon, they took a walk in the woods and enjoyed a swim at Carr's Pond.
Sunday night's performance was a huge success with over 200 people filling our sanctuary to witness a delightful musical-theatrical performance.
Thanks to all who made this a successful event! Thanks to the generosity and support of The Magic Fluke Co. in Sheffield, MA, who donated a "Flea" ukulele for our raffle!
